William (Bill) Allegrezza was born in 1974 and grew up in Mississippi. He is a poet, teacher, and musician. He lives in Chicago and teaches at Indiana University Northwest. He holds a B.A. in English from the University of Dallas, a M.A. in English from LSU, and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from LSU. His main interests are contemporary poetry, especially the Language Poets and the experimental poetic tradition; however, he is also interested in American, Latin American, Italian, and Greek literature. Among his several hobbies are hiking and sailing.
He edits the e-zine Moria, which publishes experimental poetry and poetics articles, and he is also the editor-in-chief of Cracked Slab Books, a press dedicated to publishing experimental poetry. He curates a reading series, series A, at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago and he has been a part of Chicago's Prairie Renaissance in Poetry.
His poetry, articles, poetry reviews, and translations have been published in many countries, including Australia, Italy, the United States, the Czech Republic, Finland, and the Netherlands.
Some poets who interest him are Alcaeus, Sappho, Pindar, Theognis, Dante, Sor Juana, Leopardi, Whitman, Neruda, Huidobro, Paz, Vallejo, Levertov, Duncan, Porta, Sanguinetti, and Bernstein.
